Four quick checks before you call
They take a couple of minutes and sometimes solve it. If not, call or text us. We're up whenever you are.

Thermostat
Set it to Cool, a few degrees below the room temperature. If the screen is blank, try fresh batteries. If your thermostat doesn't take batteries, or new ones don't fix it, give us a call.

Breakers
Check the breakers for both the indoor and outdoor units. If one has tripped, switch it all the way off and give us a call.

Air filter
A clogged filter chokes airflow and can freeze the coil. If you can't see light through it, swap it.

Ice on the lines
Switch cooling off and run the fan only so it can thaw, then call. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

Breakers and switch
Check the breakers, and the service switch near a furnace (it looks like a regular light switch). If a breaker has tripped, switch it all the way off and give us a call.

Air filter
A clogged filter can make a furnace overheat and shut itself off. If you can't see light through it, swap it.

Frost on the heat pump
Light frost is normal and melts off during defrost. If the outdoor unit stays caked in ice for hours, call us.
Water pooling around the indoor unit? Turn the system off and call.
Smell gas? Don't troubleshoot. Leave the house, then call your gas company or 911.
